Primitivo: Los Angeles’ Most Happening Wine Bar Located in Trendy Veniceby Darlene Hutton on February 17, 2012
Los Angeles is known for some of the best restaurants in the nation. One of my favorites, and featured on the lists of many publications in Los Angeles, is located in Venice called Primitivo. Maybe you have heard of this little gem as it has been around for over 10 years, which in the restaurant industry is forever.
Primitivo is a Los Angeles favorite and favorite of the locals of Venice. Located on the famed Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, this hip restaurant is one not to be missed. Started by owner Mary Vernieu, Primitivo has over 100 wines by the glass and a menu specializing in tapas that is to die for. Some of my all time favorites are the tiger shrimp, bacon wrapped dates, Cesar salad, steak frites, and the ever so popular paella. The wait staff is upbeat, attractive and very personable. On most nights you will see the general manager Jimmy Bradley walking around to make sure all patrons are happy.
Primitivo also offers up a generous happy hour and killer brunch on Saturdays and Sundays with bottomless mimosas and live music. Primitivo is great for private parties in its barrel room which can accommodate up to 40 or so people. They also do special wine events throughout the year, so call and ask about what is new and upcoming at the restaurant.
This is truly one of my favorite restaurants and one not to be missed. Have you been to Primitivo? If so what did you think?
